On the first tablet were the laws that pertained to mans relationship with God, on the second tablet were the laws pertaining to mans relationship with man. The first tablet constituted godliness, the second tablet constituted righteousness. Most people when thinking of the commandments never even take into consideration the first table of the law. If you were to ask someone if theyd ever broken any of the commandments, they would more than likely respond with, Ive never killed anyone, or, Ive never committed adultery. Most people wouldnt even consider, I am the LORD your God, you shall no other gods before Me, or, You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain. But these are the commands that constitute godliness and any violation of these commands puts one under the wrath of God, for Paul said, the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness In our last study we looked at the first two commandments, this time we want to look at the next three commandments.
