From history we know that Israel forfeited their relationship with God, at least temporarily, and that the church is presently what Israel was intended to be. Let me share two passages from the New Testament that make that clear: For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. Titus 2:11-15 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy. 1 Peter 2:9-10 So we see that the privileges and responsibilities that once belonged to Israel now belong to the church until the church is removed by the rapture and God renews his covenant with Israel. Lets look at the privileges and responsibilities of the church. I. Privileges- a. Special treasure. (Unique, valued) We are the chosen people. 14 times chose, chosen, elect, election are applied to the church. b. Kingdom of priest. Access to God. c. Holy nation. Set apart for Gods purpose. II. But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. Heb 13:15,16 2. Represent man before God. PRAYER 3. Represent God to man. WITNESS c. Holy Nation- 1. Marriage 2. Family 3. Education 4. Business 5. Possessions 6. Entertainment 7. Leisure III. Conditional Promise.
