When God revealed himself to Moses he said that his name was: I AM that I AM. As is obvious I AM is an incomplete sentence. The idea behind GodТs name being I AM is that he would become all that man ever needs or could need. Here and in six other places in this gospel Jesus uses I AM and then adds something that corresponds to manТs need. Man has a need spiritually that is like the physical need we call hunger. So here we have Jesus saying, I Am the Bread of Life. Bread was considered the basis of the diet of the ancient Hebrews. It was the most common and the most essential of foods. Here Jesus is taking what is essential for a healthy physical life and saying, what bread is to the body, I am to the soul and spirit of man. In other words, just as the body is dependant upon food to live, so manТs spirit is dependant on Christ for life. The problem with the human race is that weТve forgotten, or in some cases even denied, that we are not just physical beings, but in fact, first and foremost, spiritual beings, created in the image of God who is Spirit! Although weТve forgotten or denied that we are primarily spiritual in nature, God has seen to it that we have an ever-present reminder of this fact. That ever-present reminder is an insatiable hunger with-in that no material/physical thing can fill. All men have a void in their lives that can only be filled by Christ! Jesus alone is the bread of life that satisfies the hunger of man. LetТs look at some of the implications of these words of Jesus. I. Bread was common and available to all. a. Jesus is available to all- УThe longer I live the more I bless God that we have not received a classical gospel, or a mathematical gospel, or a metaphysical gospel; it is not a gospel confined to scholars and men of genius, but a poor manТs gospel, a ploughmanТs gospel; for that is the kind of gospel that we can live upon and die upon. It is to us not the luxury of refinement, but the staple food of life. We want no fine words when the heart is heavy, neither do we need deep problems when we are lying on the verge of eternityЕ At such times we magnify the blessed simplicity of the GospelФ. Spurgeon b. Bread must be eaten to nourish-Jesus must be embraced to satisfy. II. Feeding on Jesus. a. Analogy between eating food and feeding on the Word. III. Manna and Christ. a. Manna was white. Speaking of the purity of Christ. b. Manna was ground and baked. Speaking of the sufferings of Christ. c. Manna was a free gift of God. d. Manna came right to the people. e. Manna met a daily need. Close: He who comes will NEVER hunger. Total and complete satisfaction. /W Б б █уф+A{ТУrx║╗└¤∙¤Ў¤∙¤∙¤∙¤¤CJ5БCJCJ!I=╕ У V W Б В б фх*+ABz{ТУз╔╩щ12¤√√√√√√√√√√√√√√√√√√√√√√√√√√√√!I=╕ У V W Б В б фх*+ABz{ТУз╔╩щ12UVq║╗╝╜╛┐└¤√√√√√'2UVqr║╗╝╜╛┐└¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤ ░╨/ ░р=!░"░#Ра$Ра%░ i4@ё 4NormalCJOJPJQJmH <A@Є б<Default Paragraph Font,>`Є,Title$a$5БCJ└        аzЩ   аzЩB └ 8└ 2└ └ ┬ INTZЩ ╣ ┬ :::  Brian Broderson^Macintosh HD:Users:brianbrodersen:Documents:Microsoft User Data:AutoRecovery save of Document1Brian Broderson]Macintosh HD:Users:brianbrodersen:Documents:SERMONS:Gospel of John:I Am the Bread of Life.doc @8O}╘▄└ А @GРTimes New Roman5РАSymbol3Р Arial3РTimes ёИЁ╨h┼Jжж;KжжrО▌YЁе└┤┤А>0dт W_Ё  I Am the Bread of LifeBrian Broderson■  рЕЯЄ∙OhлС+'│┘0hИР░╝╚╘ф № $ 0 <HPX`'I Am the Bread of Life1 Am Am AmNormaleBrian Broderson1iaMicrosoft Word 10.1@,їь@.79яЛ╞@Z,& Л╞О▌■  ╒═╒Ь.УЧ+,∙о0 hpРШаи ░╕└╚ ╨ є'CalvaryChapelCostaMesaoт I Am the Bread of Life Title ■   ■   ■   !"#$%&'■   ¤   *■   ■   ■                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               Root Entry         └FВ═y─Л╞,А1Table            WordDocument        SummaryInformation(    DocumentSummaryInformation8             CompObj    XObjectPool            В═y─Л╞В═y─Л╞            ■                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           ■      └FMicrosoft Word Document■   NB6WWord.Document.8Root Entry         └FЖх М╞71Table        WordDocument        : SummaryInformation(    =Ш                                                                ■                                                                                       /¤   ■   ■   23456819■   ;<=>?@ABCDEFGHI■                                                                                                                                                                                                                           DocumentSummaryInformation8            7DCompObj    XObjectPool            В═y─Л╞В═y─Л╞0Table            3 ■     !"#$%&'()*+,-./0123456■   89:;<■   >?@ABC■                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   ы ` a й к л м н о ▒ └!е└!Нм└!е└!е└!е└!е└!е└!е└!е└!е└!е└!Нм└!е└!е└!е└!е└!е└!е└!е└!е└!е└!е└!Нм└!Нм└!Нм└!Нм└!Нм└!Нм└!е└!Нм└!е└!е└!е└!е└!еWБ+ , - C } д е ╞ ╟ ъ ы , ` a й к л м н о ▒ ЬААШ0ААЬААШ0ААШ0ААШ0ААЮААШ0ААЮААШ0ААЮААШ0ААЮААШ0ААШ0ААШ0ААЪ0ААШ0ААШ0ААЬААШ0ААЬААШ0ААЬААШ0АА№ 2Ш └ T ^ ▒ INTZ % 0 ` И и ▒ ::::  Brian Broderson^Macintosh HD:Users:brianbrodersen:Documents:Microsoft User Data:AutoRecovery save of Document1Brian Broderson]Macintosh HD:Users:brianbrodersen:Documents:SERMONS:Gospel of John:I Am the Bread of Life.docBrian Broderson]Macintosh HD:Users:brianbrodersen:Documents:SERMONS:Gospel of John:I Am the Bread of Life.doc @А_ _ p_}_ ▄▄+ , - Т в е ж ╟ ╚ ы ь C D M _ о п 0 @00 0V@1"0 @1B0" @1D0f @1F1о @0H1─1╞1╪0р @0~!@GРTimes New Roman5РАSymbol3Р Arial3РTimes ёИЁ╨h┼JжжOMжж{О▌$Ёе└┤┤А>0dт , _Ё  I Am the Bread of LifeBrian Broderson■  ╒═╒Ь.УЧ+,∙о0 h■      └FMicrosoft Word Document■   NB6WWord.Document.8 i4@ё 4NormalCJOJPJQJmH <A@Є б<Default Paragraph Font,>@Є,Title$a$5БCJп        аzЩ   аzЩ- п Ц!I=╕УVWБВбфх* + , - C D | } д е ╞ ╟ ъ pРШаи ░╕└╚ ╨ є'CalvaryChapelCostaMesaoт I Am the Bread of Life Title■  рЕЯЄ∙OhлС+'│┘0hИР░╝╚╘ф № $ 0 <HPX`'I Am the Bread of Life1 Am Am AmNormaleBrian Broderson2iaMicrosoft Word 10.1@в╥.@.79яЛ╞@·ГpDМ╞О▌ье┴Н@ Ї┐└jbjb┬┬ иdиdп       l╨╨╨╨╨╨DВВВВ ОX╡ ъоооооооожииииии,Я ┐ t╘с╨ооооо╘ ╨╨ооо о╨о╨ож ф№╨╨╨╨ож Ь ж╨╨жв №ўп└X*В─Fжж╡ ╡ ж3 3 ж ├хI Am the Bread of Life John 6:35 Introduction: Here we have the first of the I AM statements of Christ.
