Matt 7:21-23 Intro: As Jesus comes to the end of His sermon He gives a series of exhortations or warnings. The first was to, Enter by the narrow gate . The second was to, Beware of false prophets . And now the third, is to Beware of a false profession. Giving lip service to God but having hearts that are far from Him. This is the warning for our consideration today. I. Notice: Doing the will of God and practicing lawlessness are mutually exclusive. In other words; those who are doing the will of the Father, are not practicing sin. And those who are practicing sin, are not doing the will of the Father, do not know Christ, and are not going to enter the kingdom of heaven. Regardless of what they say. Whether it s Lord, Lord, or claims of doing Christian work in Jesus name. II. Since Jesus said: that only those who do the will of His Father will enter the kingdom of heaven, we must ask ourselves, what is the will of His Father? The answer is found in John 6:40; "And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life& That s it believing in Him. But we must ask ourselves another question; What does it mean to believe in Him? We know from what is said in our text that to believe in Him is not merely to call Him Lord, or even to be involved in Christian work. After all, there are many people involved in Christian work and doing it in Jesus name that are not truly Christians. You see, believing in Jesus is more than that. It is deeper, It s something profound, powerful, life changing. Listen to the Apostles appealing to people to believe in Jesus, the appeal is for people to do something that will result in something dramatic, something astounding happening to them. Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. ACTS 2:38 "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, ACTS 3:19 "Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses. "Beware therefore, lest what has been spoken in the prophets come upon you: "Behold, you despisers, marvel and perish! For I work a work in your days, a work which you will by no means believe, though one were to declare it to you.' " ACTS 13:38-41 "Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead." ACTS 17:30-31 And when they had come to him, he said to them: "You know, from the first day that I came to Asia, in what manner I always lived among you, "serving the Lord with all humility, with many tears and trials which happened to me by the plotting of the Jews; "how I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed it to you, and taught you publicly and from house to house, "testifying to Jews, and also to Greeks, repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. ACTS 20:18-21 "Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision, "but declared first to those in Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent, turn to God, and do works befitting repentance. ACTS 26:19-20 III. Now listen to what the Apostles understood Jesus to have come to do: "To you first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your iniquities." ACTS 3:26 Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, GAL 1:3-4 Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. EPH 5:25-27 Looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. TIT 2:13-14 Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, 1 PET 1:18 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. 1 JN 3:4-5 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. He who practices sin is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. Whoever has been born of God does not practice sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot practice sin, because he has been born of God. 1 JN 3:7-9 Close: What does it mean to believe in Jesus Christ? It means this: To turn from sin, to be set free from the power of sin. To be empowered by the Holy Spirit to follow Christ and live for Him. Not everyone who says to me Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life& Do you believe in Him? What is the proof? Have you turned from your sins, are you following Him? A Godly life is the only real proof of saving faith. Jesus never asked people to come forward for the altar call, He never led anyone in the sinners prayer. He said; Repent, turn from your sins, receive the Holy Spirit. Follow Me, and I will give you eternal life. Have you done that? I m not preaching sinless perfection, I m not saying that a Christian never commits sin. I m saying that the power of sin has been broken, the habit of sin has been broken, the bondage of sin has been broken. The Christian does not practice sin. The Christian pursues holiness knowing that without it no one will see the Lord. Are you saying Lord, Lord, but not truly believing? Turn now to Christ, turn from your sin. He will receive you. He said whoever comes to me I will by no means cast out. †œвёџвNormalE$$$ЄЄd№*$1$@& ]„^„`„$a$-DMЦ џџe568:;<7S*CJOJPJQJ@ˆphsH mH tH _HH*>*KHEHaJfHqЪ џџDAђџЁDDefault Paragraph FontdiѓџГd Table Normal.aіі4ж4ж) 0 00# $ АаАаАа/ Ар=!А"А 8:H А Ю D F H r Ф Ц ^~ъьюD$,6fhtїыштйжаЧФЛИВЌЃ š—Ž‹…vsjg^[ULCJ OJPJQJ CJ phCJ CJ OJPJQJCJ CJ OJPJQJCJ CJ OJPJQJ CJ ph CJphCJCJOJPJQJCJ CJ phCJ CJ OJPJQJ CJ ph CJ phCJ CJ OJPJQJCJ CJ OJPJQJ CJ phCJ CJ OJPJQJ CJphCJCJ$OJPJQJphCJ$OJPJQJtик Авђ8NPRT`„˜Ўм№z|~2XЄИNP^@B§їєышпмгаЪФСИЕЌЉ ”‘‹…‚yvmjd[XR CJphCJCJOJPJQJ CJphCJCJOJPJQJCJCJOJPJQJCJ CJph CJphCJCJOJPJQJCJCJOJPJQJCJCJOJPJQJCJCJOJPJQJCJ CJph CJphCJCJOJPJQJCJCJOJPJQJCJCJOJPJQJCJ CJ phCJ BDЖЦє’”ЌЎ’”€‚дшj l n ў !"("N"ˆ"І"Ј"Њ".#0#<#р#њїюытпйгаЪЧСОИЕЌЉЃš”‘ˆ…|ysmdaXUCJCJ OJPJQJCJ CJ OJPJQJ CJph CJphCJCJOJPJQJCJCJOJPJQJCJ CJphCJ CJph CJphCJCJOJPJQJCJ CJphCJ CJphCJ CJphCJ CJph CJphCJCJOJPJQJCJCJOJPJQJCJ CJph р#њ#^$`$b$ю$№$J%^%&&&J&b&’&Є& ((V(X(Z(d)v)Ž)І)L*N*P*‚*”*+$+їєюшхпмгаЪФСИЕЌЉ —‘Ž…‚yvpjg^[RCJOJPJQJCJCJOJPJQJCJ CJph CJphCJCJOJPJQJCJCJOJPJQJCJ CJph CJphCJCJOJPJQJCJCJOJPJQJCJCJOJPJQJCJ CJph CJphCJCJOJPJQJCJ CJphCJ CJph CJphCJCJOJPJQJ$+˜+š+œ+(,*,\,p,x,œ,ь,ю,№,P-d-м-ю-М.а.№.,/|/Ž/р/ь/ў/0`0b0d0r0§їёюшхмйаЭЧСОЕВЉІš‘Ž…‚ypgd^XOCJ OJPJQJ CJph CJphCJCJOJPJQJCJOJPJQJCJOJPJQJCJCJOJPJQJCJCJOJPJQJCJCJOJPJQJCJCJOJPJQJCJCJOJPJQJCJ CJph CJphCJCJOJPJQJCJCJOJPJQJCJ CJphCJ CJph CJphCJr0ъ0ь0ц1ш1и3к3м34ъ5і5А6ж6r7€7т89О:Р:Т:Ф:Ц:Ш:Ъ:§їєюхмаЧФЛИЏЌЃ —”Žˆ‚|vp CJ ph CJph CJph CJph CJph CJ phCJ CJ OJPJQJCJ CJ OJPJQJCJ CJ OJPJQJCJ CJ OJPJQJCJ CJ OJPJQJCJOJPJQJphCJOJPJQJCJ OJPJQJ CJ phCJ CJ phCJ Ъ:Ь:Ю:а:в:д:Лvu0uˆ568:;<79XTS*CJOJPJQJ@ˆphџRHdsHmHtH_HH*>*KHEHwhџ *ehrЪџfHqЪ џџˆ568:;<79XTS*CJOJPJQJ@ˆphџRHdsHmHtH_HH*>*KHEHwhџ *ehrЪџfHqЪ џџˆ568:;<79XTS*CJOJPJQJ@ˆphџRHdsHmHtH_HH*>*KHEHwhџ *ehrЪџfHqЪ џџд:ж:и:к:о:р:ЛКuК0ˆ568:;<79XTS*CJOJPJQJ@ˆphџRHdsHmHtH_HH*>*KHEHwhџ *ehrЪџfHqЪ џџˆ568:;<79XTS*CJOJPJQJ@ˆphџRHdsHmHtH_HH*>*KHEHwhџ *ehrЪџfHqЪ џџˆ568:;<79XTS*CJOJPJQJ@ˆphџRHdsHmHtH_HH*>*KHEHwhџ *ehrЪџfHqЪ џџ : F H Ц ьюhкPR|~PBD’”Ў”‚l n !Ј"Њ"`$њјјјјјјјјјјјјјјјјјјјјјјјјјјј$a$`$b$№$&&X(Z(N*P*š+œ+*,ю,№,b0d0ь0ш1м3Р:Т:Ф:Ц:Ш:Ъ:Ь:Ю:а:в:§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§ћ§ћв:д:ж:и:к:о:р:§ћ§ћ§§l4ж4жl (kєџС(No ListЬўёџђЬ Free FormE$$$ЄЄd№*$1$@& ]„^„`„$a$-DMЦ џџY568:;<7S*CJOJPJQJ@ˆphsH mH H*>*KHEHfHqЪ џџp<џџџџ tBр#$+r0Ъ:д:т: !"#$%&`$в:т:'()џџUnknownџџp`iTimes New RomanTimes New RomanESymbolSymbolA&ArialArialaв0щ0Ў0Ю0в‰Д0 Pro W3в0щ0Ў0Ю0в‰Д0 Pro W3}Times New Roman BoldTimes New Roman Bold…Times New Roman ItalicTimes New Roman Italic™Times New Roman Bold ItalicTimes New Roman Bold Italic#ˆаhщƒйfщƒйf!€#@(0Root Entryџџџџџџџџ€>еоБ€|њУ7Ъ;€1Tableџџџџ€|њУ7Ъ€|њУ7ЪWordDocumentџџџџ€|њУ7Ъ€|њУ7ЪTData џџџџџџџџџџџџ€|њУ7Ъ€|њУ7Ъ2ўџеЭеœ.“—+,љЎDеЭеœ.“—+,љЎ|8 ( 0щ§ ўџр…ŸђљOhЋ‘+'Гй0X (@щ§Do you BelieveBrian BrodersenSummaryInformation(џџџџџџџџ€|њУ7Ъ€|њУ7ЪˆDocumentSummaryInformation8џџџџџџџџџџџџ€|њУ7Ъ€|њУ7ЪObjectPool џџџџџџџџџџџџ€|њУ7Ъ€|њУ7Ъџџџџ џџџџџџџџџџџџ€>еоБ€>еоБџџџџўџџџўџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџ ,!"#$%&'()*+ўџџџ-./01ўџџџ3456789ўџџџ<ўџџџўџџџўџџџ§џџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџ
