And how shall they hear with out a preacher? So then, faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Jesus and the Apostles were preachers and teachers of the Word of God. If we are called to pastoral ministry, then we too are called to be preachers and teachers of the Word of God. The church is an educational institution, a place where people learn about God. Tragically, these days most churches are not teaching the Bible. Most of the information being dispensed in churches today is man-centered folklore sprinkled with religious jargon. Gods glory, love, power, grace will, wrath, judgments have been set aside. Consequently, Gods people are perishing for lack of knowledge! So many, in their quest to be culturally relevant, by-pass the Scriptures. History shows over and over again, where theres a strong emphasis on teaching and preaching the church is strong and flourishes. Where teaching and preaching are neglected the church is feeble and powerless. Paul knowing this to be true said to Timothy, All Scripture is given by inspiration of God Preach the Word! What must we do to become better preachers and teachers of the Bible? 1. Study- Bible, Commentaries, Good Books. 2. Pray- For understanding and anointing. 3. Preach- Cultivate through use. 4. Imitate- but dont impersonate. Read about other preachers, listen to other preachers etc. 5. Be yourself but in total dependency on the Spirit. Close: Walk through sermon outlines.
