Why was man created? УBring my sons from afar, and my daughters from the ends of the earth- everyone who is called by My name, whom I have created for My gloryЕ Isa.43: 6-7 The first question in the Westminster Larger Catechism is УWhat is the chief and highest end of man?Ф The answer is, УManТs chief and highest end is to glorify God, and fully to enjoy Him forever.Ф II. What does created in GodТs image and likeness mean? Let us make man to be like us and to represent us. a. Not primarily a physical likeness. (Although man sees, hears, and speaks like God.) We must look for the resemblance to God chiefly in manТs spiritual nature. His freedom of will, his self-consciousness, his reasoning power, his sense of that which is above nature, the good, the true, the eternal; his conscience, which is the voice of God within him, his capacity for knowing God and having communion with Him; in a word, in all that allies him to God, all that raises him above sense and time and merely material considerations, all that distinguishes him from, and elevates him above the beast. b. Reasoning powers. Creativity- buildings, electronic gadgets of every sort, cars, airplanes, space shuttles. Poems, and plays, and songs and pictures all demonstrate manТs creative ability. Civilization is manТs creation and a proof of his being created in the intellectual image of God. (Grudem quote.) c. Moral consciousness- The great distinction between right and wrong belongs to man alone. d. Spirituality. III. Male and female- УThe fact that God created two distinct persons as male and female, rather than just one man, is part of our being in the image of God because it can be seen to reflect to some degree the plurality of persons within the Trinity.Ф Grudem .║╟НО╟·"Vwy И К ў   ·ўЇЇўўўёўёCJCJCJ 5БCJ\Б╞╟НО╞·√№VWЙ К ч ш ∙ · ■   ·°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°$a$  ■ 1Рh░╨/ ░р=!░"░#Ра$Ра%░ i8@ё 8 NormalCJ_HaJmH sH tH <A@Є б< Default Paragraph Font     ╞╟НО╞·√№VWЙКчш∙·■Ш0ААШ0ААШ0ААШ0ААШ0ААШ0ААШ0ААШ0ААШ0ААШ0ААШ0ААШ@0ААШ0ААШ@0ААШ0ААШ0ААШ0ААШ0ААШ0ААШ0АА      zАў¤ПСве33║┼yКў■  Brian BrodersenMC:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\AutoRecovery save of Document2.asdBrian Brodersen8C:\My Documents\sermons\Theology\The Creation of Man.doc■ @ 0@  Unknown            GРЗ: Times New Roman5РАSymbol3&Р Arial"qИЁ╨hrbЖRrbЖQrbЖF─ $Ёе└┤┤ББ202ГЁ  The Creation of ManBrian BrodersenBrian Brodersen■  рЕЯЄ∙OhлС+'│┘0ЬШа╝╚рь° $0 L X d p|ДМФфThe Creation of Manhe Brian Brodersenriaria Normal.dotrBrian Brodersen2iaMicrosoft Word 9.0@$e╟ @Фi{╡┴@╥!q╡┴@TWН{╡┴─■  ╒═╒Ь.УЧ+,∙о0 hpИРШа и░╕└ ╚ шфCalvary Chapel а The Creation of Man Title ■    ■   ■    !"■   ¤   %■   ■   ■                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Root Entry■АыА■АыА         └F■ ёп{╡┴'А1Table■odo■odo■            ■odo■od 0WordDocumentЬАтА■ЬАтА■        ЬАтА■ЬАтА"  SummaryInformationodo■(    odo■ododDocumentSummaryInformationo8            odo■odoCompObjбdб■бdб■бd    бdб■jObjectPool■odo■odo             ёп{╡┴ ёп{╡┴■odo■odo■odo■            ■odo 0  ■                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           ■       └FMicrosoft Word Document MSWordDocWord.Document.8Ї9▓q
